It's time to wake up from the American Dream

Many Americans may still be in denial over the coming changes in our non-negotiable lifestyle, but those fantasies took a head high shot to the chops last week when Brett Arends of the Wall Street Journal, the daily ragsheet of capitalism, urged Americans to start hoarding food.

Good essay Keith.

Excellent essay, as per usual. It led me to study up on Biofuels.

Too bad he had to add that crap about Obama-as-victim.

Of all the interesting things in that excellent essay, you focused with narrow-minded zeal on the politician you love to hate, missing the main point in that sidepoint on Obama. Obama is so far to the extreme left that the machine is seeking to destroy him; and that this cynical nonsense will embitter a generation of youthful idealists.

Back to the essay... I hadn't really thought of it that way, that things might get really bad if homo americanus seeks to blame someone, punish someone. I wonder if this is being engineered to initiate war with Iran. This administration is good at engineering things, does anyone remember the California "energy crisis" from 2001? The electricity came back when the "anthrax scare" and 9/11 took place.

Obama totally buys into the American Dream that Keith says it's time to wake up from.

If he's a victim of anything, it's his own failure to take Keith's advice.

He's going to be destroyed either way because he's too far to the left and he's inspiring young voters and black voters. His gamble is that he might survive by moderating his tone, but he's wrong, he'll just promote the agony.

The ruling classes want a politically uninspired public (especially youth and blacks), and they want war with Iran. Hillary Clinton is everything they could ever ask for.

You've now said twice in this thread that Obama's problem is that he's too far to the extreme left.

Maybe from your point of view he is, but by any objective standard he has not departed from the tiny, narrow fragment of the political spectrum that represents mainstream US political discourse today.

Oh, and about that war with Iran? Obama wants it, too.

There is no objective standard of "left" and "right", heck man, that's basic geometry, it's always relative to the current location! And in politics, left and right is relative to space and time.
