Renewable Energy Has Arrived
Interesting story, but the core of it is simple; California pays more than other states for power because it mandates 'alternative' sources, and it requires more natural gas fired plants to accomodate the unreliable nature of said alternatives.
In the end, what will save it is batteries. I'll leave it to others to describe what sort of battery you need to supply 250,000 gigawatt hours of electricity.
