Political Funnies

This article amused me so much I had to share. I thought it would be good to have a place to collect political cartoons and spoofs, articles or videos.

Here's my offering. My first thought was that they look oddly good looking for men I don't recall as being particularly handsome. The analysis is priceless.

There are no politics in Canada except the above. Go to any social media it is the same. The ubiquitous Orange Herring is all Canadians talk about.

I've seen funny Canadian cartoons. I just stumbled on the painting and laughed outloud when I read the article. This is for international and Canadian political funnies.

kropotkin1951

Yes some how serendipitously you just "stumbled" on the painting. My guess is it came in a social media feed from one of the dozens of propaganda feeds from the Democratic wing of the US oligarchy. The US domination of our culture has been a part of my life always but with the internet it has become even worse.

I know, I know its late to lament for a nation.

I read the guardian international news deliberately. I like art. The painting caught my eye. As I looked at it I realized it was various presidents but they all looked unusually good. So I started reading the article which confirmed my suspicion and filled in details I didn't look long enough to pick up. I think the artist is absolutely brilliant. Apparently Trump loves it but to my eye the artist is mocking him. All laughter aside this is a historic work. It's hanging in the White House.

Mr. Magoo

I had always assumed that the "international news and politics" forum was exempt from CanCon rules.

voice of the damned

I'm pretty sure that if someone had posted a Green Party USA cartoon attacking the Democrats and Republicans as two branches of the same oligarchy, Kropotkin would not be on here bewailing the meme as American cultural domination, even though the Green Party USA is no less American than any other political party headquartered in that country.

LOLOLOLOL This one should become a theme portrayal of Trudeau, like Trump being orange only way better.

i know what you’re getting at but I’m either projecting on you or you’re not expressing yourself right?

the thread is in the appropriate heading, but to me it appears to be another “let’s rant about Trump” or “let’s poke fun at Trumps appearance” thread. For some reason, mocking someone’s appearances has now become acceptable behaviour amongst so called progressives.

I started a thread here about Xi JinPing. A wildly successful progressive with the most impressive resume. You’d think that’s what progressives would want to talk about hey? Socialist success stories. But nope, straight back to Trump!

Rabble is turning out to be a real disappointment

There are many serious topics on babble even if yours didn't pick up interest right away. The first pipeline threads didn't either. At one point I posted that even though no one was responding I was reading. They eventually became among the most active threads.

This thread is just to lighten things up a bit.

The first post happened to be about Trump because that particular article hit my funny bone. It doesn't make it a thread about Trump.

Portraying Trudeau as Pinnochio is 1,000 words in a picture.  Big money and US corporate power is hiding behind the innocent looking Trudeau whose strings are being pulled by them. It portrays Trudeau as a front man.

Even though I thought to lighten things up a bit political cartooning it is still important political speech just as political music is.

On Tuesday, an image of one of the bins blew up on Reddit with the caption “Pearson International installed a ‘free weed’ bin :).” Greater Toronto Airport Authority spokesperson Robin Smith was happy to set the record straight.

“‘Free weed’ is resoundingly incorrect, and I think that’s putting it mildly,” Smith told Gizmodo over email. “Once something goes into the container, it doesn’t come out.”

Not funny but it brings joy to my heart to know how angry Kavanaugh will be this will be part of history forever.

A controversial cartoon drawn by Halifax-based artist Bruce MacKinnon will be added to the United States Congressional Library, The Chronicle Herald reports.

Martin N.

So, Unionist, I appreciate your offer to help technopeasants such as myself realize the joys of technological sophistication. How does one upload an image that does not result in a tiny box as above?

Michael Moriarity

Well, Martin, I'm not Unionist, but I do know how to use this disgustingly bad piece of software.

So, to insert a graphic into a post, you use the button on the toolbar that looks like a picture, just to the right of the quotation mark button. But first, the picture you want to insert has to already be on a web site somewhere, and you have to get a link to the picture. Let's use Wikipedia as an example. If you click this link, it will take you to the Wikipedia page for Richard Nixon. To put the photograph of Tricky Dick into a post, you right-click on that image, then select "Copy Image Location" if you are using Firefox, or "Copy Image Address" if you are using Chrome. Then, position the caret in the editing window to the spot you would like the picture to appear, and click on the picture button in the toolbar at the top. A dialog will appear, and you then paste in the Image Location where it says "URL". It is also necessary to set the alignment to right or left. I'll use left in this example.

See the result just above this line. Hope this helps.

Some sites are configured to prevent people from embedding ("deeplinking") their images elsewhere. When that's the case, you may get the broken image icon even if you've put in the correct address. Lots of broken images on this board are caused by that. There's a workaround, but it takes a bit of effort: download the image from the original site, reupload it to an image-sharing site like Imgur, and embed it from there. (Depending on the terms of license of the original image, this may be a violation of copyright law, so be careful.)

That's generally how I proceed with images on the internet - download them, then upload to imgur.com, then get the right link (the one ending in .jpg usually). If Martin N. or anyone needs more detailed instructions, let me know. As for copyright... meh. I don't care.

I love reading these but the last one is priceless.

I don’t see any humour in that picture bekayne. Ridiculing someone’s appearance is something I don’t engage in.

But for some reason if it’s about Trump, it ok?

Sadly, this is all too true. The Charlie Brown in us (as the Pooper would put it) Canuckleheads will likely believe Lucy (Lisa Raitt) until we find ourselves landing on our Canuckleasses.
